Who we are
A furniture atelier in Ümraniye, İstanbul.
Atelier Aksoy was founded on a simple premise: that a piece of furniture should be worth keeping. Not for a few years, but for a lifetime.
Every piece we make is designed and built in-house in our Ümraniye workshop. We work with solid wood only, no veneers and no composites, and we joint and finish everything by hand.
How we work

Design
Pieces are drawn in the atelier; proportions are tested in cardboard before a single board is cut.

Timber selection
We source solid wood from sustainable European suppliers. Each slab is hand-selected for grain and character.

Construction
All joinery is cut by hand: mortice-and-tenon, dovetail, housed joint. No biscuits, no nails, no shortcuts.

Finishing
Pieces are sanded to 400 grit, then oiled over three sessions. The finish is food-safe and refinishable.
Materials
White Oak
Our most-used timber, chosen for its tight grain, its warmth under finish, and the way it ages, darker and richer over decades.
Walnut
A rich, dark hardwood for pieces where depth of colour matters. It works well in smaller forms: side tables, sideboards, small seating.
Ash
Lighter and more elastic than oak; we use it for seating frames where bend and resilience are needed alongside beauty.
