Care, Warranty & Repair
Every piece we make is built to be repaired and kept, not replaced. Solid wood, properly cared for, improves with age. We stand behind the work with a clear warranty and a lifetime repair commitment.
Care by Material
Oak (oiled)
- Wipe surfaces with a damp cloth as needed, then dry immediately.
- Re-oil once or twice a year using the care kit included with your piece.
- Avoid standing water, excessive heat, and prolonged direct sunlight.
- Use coasters and trivets — hot or wet items left on oiled wood will leave marks.
- Minor scratches can be sanded out locally and re-oiled.
Walnut (oiled)
- As for oak. Walnut is slightly softer, so take extra care with heavy objects.
- Re-oil every 12 months. Walnut ages beautifully; oil deepens the colour.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners and scouring pads.
Ash (oiled)
- Dust regularly with a soft cloth.
- Re-oil every 12–18 months. Ash is forgiving and ages gently.
- Clean spills quickly — ash is more porous than oak.
Linen & Fabric Upholstery
- Brush or vacuum gently with a soft attachment.
- Blot spills immediately — do not rub.
- Professional cleaning is recommended for deep stains.
- Cushion covers on some models are removable for cleaning.
Leather
- Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
- Condition with a leather balm every 6–12 months.
- Keep away from direct heat and strong sunlight.
- Scratches and marks are part of the patina — they improve with use.
Warranty
Five-year structural warranty
Every piece is warranted against structural defects in materials and workmanship for five years from the date of delivery. This covers joint failure, significant wood movement, and finish defects that are not the result of normal wear or misuse.
Not covered: Normal wear and patina (these are features of solid wood), damage from misuse, modifications made outside the atelier, and cosmetic preferences.
Lifetime Repair
Built to be repaired, not replaced
Beyond the warranty, we offer repair and restoration for every piece we have made, for the life of the piece. If a joint loosens, a surface needs refinishing, or an accident happens, contact us. We will assess the work and give you an honest quote.
Repair costs are kept fair. Our aim is that you never have a reason to replace an Atelier Aksoy piece — only to maintain it.
